Because I Said So is a book about a little girl named Libby, with a story to share. Libby wants everyone to know that they are valued and loved, “because they said so”.

From the Author:

I wrote Because I Said So as a children's book, hoping that children would hear this story from early on and not go through life missing out on their “selves”. I hope that as parents, caregivers, teachers, and therapists read this book to their “kids” they too hear the message Libby has to say, because it is never to late to find your “self”. What I am most grateful for is the gift of realizing that my “self” has my back no matter what.

Because I Said So is the beginning of a series of books that will take the reader from adolescence to adulthood, with a constant reminder that you take your “self” with you no matter where you go, and your “self” has “your back” no matter what.

In admiration,

Liberty

About the Author: Liberty Phoenix Lord

Liberty is the mother of 3 beautiful boys, and lucky to have a stepdaughter who has been in Liberty’s life since the age 5.

As a mother, Liberty wears many hats. She is a teacher, a maid, a secretary, cook, chauffeur, therapist, accountant, a shoulder to cry on and the go-to person for EVERYTHING. She believes, in order to be the mother her children deserve, she has had to learn many lessons and fill her toolbox with as many tools as she could gather along the way. She feels incredibly fortunate that the people in her life, such as her mother, father, stepfather, husband, siblings, children, brother in-laws and most recently her therapist, have been such amazing teachers!

Because I Said So is a book that came out of a short, but sweet, session with her therapist, the author of the foreword, Isabell Springer. Liberty walked into the office with a question and Isabell’s answer was, ”Did you know that you have an inner you that you have been ignoring all these years and deserves your attention? Imagine that your inner you was a 6 year old little girl, would you ignore her?” Liberty thought, “Of course not!” I would sit down on the floor, get on the little girl’s level, look her in the eyes and say, “Hi little love, I am so sorry I didn’t hear you until now, what is going on with you?”

This session moved Liberty so much and awakened a voice in her that she had long forgotten was there. Liberty found her “self” and realized that if she had lost her “self,” then surely other people must have lost their “self” as well. So Liberty rushed home, wrote down all the thoughts that she had about this new concept and Because I Said So emerged.

About the Illustrator: Laisha Canner-Ward

Illustration is a past time for Laisha. Besides raising her two amazing boys, she is deeply rooted in the field of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.
Laisha believes the message of this book speaks to the deepest part of ourselves, where we are whole. This is an unlimited place within ourselves where we can always draw from to gain strength, restoration, and healing.
Since they were kids, Laisha found Liberty to be a model of strength and integrity, as well as a source of abundant love and kindness. The image of Liberty as a 10 year old girl came effortlessly to Laisha during a meditation on these thoughts and feelings about her childhood friend.
